Portable Mini Golf Info
With the years of experience as a local rental business and manufacturer we have learned to develop products that can last for a long time and take a beating. Many of our customers also come from the rental industry by adding a portable mini golf as an add-on to a current business or start a new business with just the portable mini golf set. Other customers that choose us are churches, schools, city organizations, and other businesses.
One of the biggest questions we receive has to do with the wood construction of the sets as compared to aluminum. Certain materials have their advantages based on certain needs and aluminum is one of those materials that are lightweight and easy to use. However, this comes with much higher costs.
We have discovered that we are able to find that balance between cost and weight to deliver a great value. We build our mini golf frames with good quality pine lumber. We seal, prime, and paint every inch of exposed wood and use all exterior grade materials.
Our sets contain between 9 and 14 frame sections depending on the set purchased. The heaviest frame is around 49 lbs and the lightest around 22 lbs. The aluminum sets will be within a few pounds of the weight of wood. So they are very comparable for the portability.
Aluminum will have an overall strength advantage as compared to wood but that strength far exceeds what is needed for this purpose. Wood is more then adequate when built properly. We have tested this with the public and have yet to have any damage.
With the comparable weight and suitable strength you will receive the best possible value for the wooden mini golf set. This will give you a huge advantage if you want to test your market with an add-on or you are starting the new business and want to lower your up front risk.
We try to sell what we manufacture so some of the accessories such as putters and balls are not included. The batteries are also optional if you choose to have the LED set.
For transport we use these flat carts or hand trucks as some call them. They can be purchased from companies like Uline. They can be stacked directly on top of each other and strapped down to the cart. (cart is not included)
This will allow you to push up the ramp of a trailer and off into buildings if you have a long distance to go inside of schools and other buildings.
In this photo to the right, we have foam blocks between each layer and this is just for shipping in case they get a little rough. We stack them directly on top of each other in regular usage but either is fine if you continue to use the blocks.
One question we often get is about the cup for the ball to drop in. We did choose to go with a 3" diameter cup. This is a better proportion to the size of each green. We can go up to the 4" size as a custom feature however most go with the 3" size.
We had previously had some customers have concerns about the lip. It is about 1/16" lip and can easily be pressed slightly lower prior to game play.
For the LEDs we need to have power. We will include an AC adapter plug to power up the LEDs from any standard outlet. Most people choose to purchase the batteries for each section. This will allow you to plug in on the go and recharge the batteries separately from the set.
